LONDON, ON – For the twelfth consecutive year, TD Sunfest was named a Top 100 Ontario Festival by the professional industry association Festivals & Events Ontario (FEO).  The 2017 list of winners was announced this past Friday (March 3rd) during FEO's Annual Conference (Celebrating the Past, Igniting the Future) in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Created by FEO, the Top 100 program honors excellence in Ontario’s festivals and events industry.  Submissions from FEO members were received for consideration in the fall of 2016 and were judged by an independent panel of judges.  Destinations of all kinds from every corner of Ontario were represented in the nominations – from community festivals to internationally recognized events.

“Festivals and events create jobs and bring Ontario communities together to celebrate our heritage and diversity,” said Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “I am pleased to join with Festival and Events Ontario in congratulating this year’s top 100 recipients. There are so many celebrations taking place across the province this year and our 150th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to get out and discover them.”

Sunfest Executive & Artistic Director Alfredo Caxaj applauded his festival's strong contingent of exhibitors, patrons, performers, volunteers and sponsors (including title sponsor TD) for their continued support of TD Sunfest as a major cultural and economic driver for London and Southwestern Ontario.  He also offered congratulations to fellow London winners Western Fair (Level of Distinction Award winner) and Wine & Food Show.

The 23rd edition of TD Sunfest is set for July 6th - 9th, 2017 in Victoria Park, and will feature over 35 top international and national world music & jazz headliners, complemented by 225 eclectic food, craft and visual art exhibitors.  With an annual attendance that keeps soaring to record heights (more than 220,000 visits in 2016!), London's free-admission Sunfest is considered one of the largest and most culturally diverse music festivals in Canada and a premier tourist attraction.

Full event details will be announced this spring at a special media launch, and on the festival's website www.sunfest.on.ca
